That's easy to explain. [He stands up and looks at this... weird TV thing.] Whatever happened to them probably would have happened thousands of years ago, at the very least. Possibly millions. Long enough for even the bones and furniture to turn to dust. Assuming the species that lived here even had bones, or even died to begin with...
