[Later, Shep might be willing to explain the absolute bullshit that is a Reaper. But maybe after she's had a drink or five first. But later, when she's not still concerned that she's potentially left her entire galaxy to die while she chases after universe's smallest needle in the biggest haystack.]

I feel that. Wasn't that long ago for Humans where I'm from too. Was a very rude awakening when we met up with galactic civilization as a whole let me tell you. I was three when we made our first contact with another species... it didn't go well.

[Bit of an understatement.

Also later, she'll probably explain about her good friend who's over 100 and still considered little more than a baby by her species. Really puts things into perspective.]

Good to see that some things are more universal in this strange place. I'm a spacer too. [Shep reaches out and shakes the Lieutenant's hand firmly, but not too firmly. There'd definitely been some enhancements along with replacements when Cerberus cybernetically rebuilt her body. No crushing friendly stranger's hands allowed. She'll save that for the bad guys.] Commander Shepard, Earth Systems Alliance. Good to meet you, LT.

[Shep also doesn't mention the Normandy, which is probably in the docking bay somewhere. Mostly because she hasn't actually tracked it down yet. Also, hard to call herself the Captain of a crew-less ship.]
